This was a nice French couple that I met in Point Noire, Congo. They had recently bought a new Defender 130 and were planning to drive overland back to France.
This was the view from the plane as we flew over some of the sites that Michel managed.

A reminder of the fighting that has taken place in the Democratic Republic Of Congo
The might Congo River, which serves as a main shipping route to Matadi Brazzaville and Kinshasa.
So the bad pistes and roads start. Angola had the worst roads I came across country wide.
This was something the locals had knocked up. None of which was bolted together and moved as you went across.
At one point there had been good bridges over all of the major rivers, but most had been blown up in the war.

Along the main route through Angola the views were really great. Shame about the mines!
More holes than road, which made it slow going.
