These were at the famous Twyfelfontein site. They date back some 6000 years and where made by chipping away at the surface in many small places.
There was also painting at the same site dating from around the same time. The paint was a mixture of the artists blood and local ground into powder rock.
This was a nice Swiss couple I ran into. They had shipped there Landy to South Africa and where now driving back to Europe.
It was really interesting to just sit there and watch them for a while. As they might look awkward on land but they are very graceful in the water.
There must have been some 500 seals there, the only down side was the smell.

This was the nice place I stayed at for a few days.
One morning I went Sandboarding with a company called Alter Action. It was really good fun and I got to try the lying down version as well.

These were the other guys who tried the stand up Sandboaring, and on the left is our cool instructor, who really knew his stuff.
It took two hours to get myself out, as there was a hidden river just 25cm under the sand.
The harsh land here probably had not changed for thousands of years.
