In red is the rough route I intended on
driving back when the trip was first conceived. But due to the Darfur crisis in the west of Sudan
this was not possible and therefore I decided to drive down the west coast to South Africa.
In yellow is the actual route I took. Covering as much as possible with the time/money available to me.
The trip was ultimately cut short because of the lack of money. As my Carnet was running out and I didn't have enough money to renew it. So I opted for a sprint finish and see if I could make it back to Europe. Unfortunately with delays/problems getting a Sudan visa I had to call it quits and ship out of Djibouti.
